Rappers go on social media rants all the time now. But Gucci Mane kind of pioneered that movement in 2013. He went on a Twitter rampage targeting several of his rap cohorts, including Waka Flocka, Nicki Minaj, and Drake.
Gucci Mane Says Drake Has Forgiven Him For ‘Sissy’ Comments
“Tell Drake he’s a true male groupie. I don’t need u u 2 much, sissy stop tryin b me,” Gucci Mane wrote at the time.
Gucci says that at the time, he was going through an episode.
“I said some bu***h*t about Drake, text him some crazy stuff. But I was going through an episode, so I kind of had to hit him back and be like, ‘I’m sorry about that. I was going through something,” Gucci said in a recent interview with ABC News.
Gucci added that Drake responded by alluding to their relationship as “brothers,” and saying that “Brothers go through stuff.”
Gucci Mane authored a book titled Episodes in 2025. In the book, he details his struggles with schizophrenia. A condition where he can often go through episodes where he goes on rants targeting other people.
During an appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club last October, the rapper and his wife Keyshia Ka’oir detailed their approach to managing his episodes. Ka’oir said that priority number one is to take the rap star’s phone away from him.
“I take his apps off his phone,” Ka’oir explained. “First thing I do, I delete Instagram. I delete everything. Even if I got to change his password, I’m changing it because I don’t need the public to know he’s having an episode. You realize you’d never know about any other episode since Sept. 13 because I control that. You’re not going on Instagram, you’re not going on Twitter, it’s deleted. I just control everything at home.”
