In October, Gucci Mane and his wife Keyshia Ka’oir appeared on The Breakfast Club to promote his new book, Episodes. And during that appearance, they were candid about the rap star’s struggles with schizophrenia. And while many people have applauded the rap star for being open enough to share his struggles with mental health, not everyone feels that way. Including his former manager, Deb Antney.
Deb Antney Throws Shade at Gucci Mane, Keyshia Ka’oir
Antney had a lot to say about Gucci and Keyshia’s appearance on the radio. But her main takeaway was that Gucci just did not seem like himself. And she believes that he was “drugged up” for the interview.
“It just did not seem like him. In a million years, you wouldn’t be able to get me to believe that he wasn’t drugged up, or that something wasn’t going on with him there,” she said as heard through The Breakfast Club.
She also said she believes that the couple’s advocacy for mental health is disingenuous. And added that she believes that for K’aoir to have Gucci Mane interview that state is indicative of someone who is “attention” seeking.
“I don’t feel like he should have come out nationally saying the stuff that she said about her husband,” Antney added. “That sounds like somebody who is looking for attention. And that threw her husband out on the chopping block. I don’t care what anybody says. This isn’t about them worrying about no damn mental health. This is them worrying about people trying to be on top.”
However, fans in the comments section had a difference of opinion when it came to Antney’s recent comments about the duo.
“Hearing Deb makes you understand how blessed he is to be away from that,” one person said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Sadly, people would rather see people doing bad than good. Healing is beautiful! We all need it!” another user said.
To this point, neither Keyshia Ka’oir nor Gucci Mane has responded to Antney’s comments.
