Hit Boy is one of the top record producers in the game. He is the mastermind behind several smash hits such as Travis Scott’s Sicko Mode, Lil Wayne’s Drop The World, and Kanye West’s Eazy.
Hit Boy Gives Major Props to Jay-Z & Desiree Perez
But despite the abundance of success that Hit Boy has enjoyed in the industry, his record deal didn’t reflect that. That was until Jay-Z, Desiree Perez, and Roc Nation stepped in to interject and get him out of an 18-year publishing deal. Hit Boy took to social media to thank Perez and Jay-Z for using their influence to help him regain his freedom.
“[They] helped secure my freedom. Today I am a free man. I feel like I just got out of the pen after an 18-year sentence,” Hit Boy wrote on social media (Via AllHipHop).
“Much appreciation to Desiree Perez for also making this happen. The love and respect on my end runs deep, and I appreciate all the help [for real].”
Hit Boy also added that receiving his independence as an artist is “More valuable than a plane or anything tangible.”
The Super Producer, who is most known for engineering Jay-Z and Kanye’s N****s in Paris, also reflected on his career trajectory and how much HOV impacted that.
“The first CD I ever bought with my own money was the Blueprint by Jay-Z when I was 13 years old. I never would’ve imagined when playing that album over and over and studying it that I would have the opportunity to work with him 10 years later,” he said.
“The first song ever released that I produced for Jay was ‘n**gas in paris’ I remember getting a text from Hov after the song dropped and was going crazy, and he said ‘if you get me another ‘ns in paris’ I’ll get you a plane’ jokingly.”
It will be exciting to see what the star producer has in store after regaining his freedom.
