At theend of 2026, Hot 97 made a major shakeup. Replacing Ebro in The Morning with rising media personality “The Kid Mero” for their 6 am-10 am morning slot.
‘Mornings With Mero’ Adds Emmy Award Winner Kazeem Famuyide
Mero is a rising star in his own right. But there has been initial concern about how the station would surround him with talent. Well, the radio station just added another rising star in its own right. As Mero’s 7 pm in Brooklyn co-host, Kazeem Famuyide, is set to join the morning program. His first day on the job will be this Tuesday (January 20). Kazeem made the revelation on social media on Monday Morning (January 19).
Ahead of his debut, Famuyide also noted how excited he is for the upcoming opportunity.
I’ve listened to [Hot 97] my entire life. I was born here. Raised here. Raised by Hip-Hop. The opportunity to wake up the greatest city in the world on the most legendary station in music is not lost on me. I’ve waited my entire life for this. I’m ready. Let’s get it,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday (January 19)
I’ll be riding shotgun every morning with the Mayor of the mornings aka Mero Mamdani from 6am-10am on @HOT97. A dream come true and a new era. Wake that ass up, tri-state and but preset #1. #morningswithmero @THEKIDMERO @MiabelleNYC @DJKASTONE @ShaniKulture @DJJUANYTO pic.twitter.com/MTItTaEljZ

Famuyide comes with an extensive media history. In addition to co-hosting 7 pm in Brooklyn, he also co-hosts The Ringer Wrestling Podcast with David Shoemaker as well as Say Less with Nile “Lowkey” Ivey and Rosy Rodriguez.
In his previous work, he was one of the co-hosts of Flagrant 2 with Andrew Schultz and was a member of the WWE creative team. He also comes with an extensive history of event organizing. As one of the previous organizers of Dusse Palooza (Formerly Henny Palooza) and Walemania, a party hosted by rapper Wale every Wrestlemania weekend.
Famuyide clearly brings an extensive media history with him to Hot 97’s morning program. It will be interesting to see how it translates to morning radio.
