Another major death has hit the timeline. Terry Gene Bollea, also known as wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, has passed away. He was 71 years old.
Hulk Hogan Passes Away at 71
According to TMZ, who was the first to report the news, Hogan’s cause of death was listed as “cardiac arrest.”
“We’re told a slew of police cars and EMTs were parked outside Hogan’s home … and he was carried on a stretcher and into an ambulance,” the outlet wrote.
“Cops tell us officials responded to the call at 9:51 AM … and Hogan was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel before being taken to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.”
TMZ also notes that Clearwater Police intend to hold a press conference later to address any questions related to the wrestling star’s death.
Not only was Hulk Hogan a legend in the ring. He was a legend on the big screen. Appearing in box office hits such as Three Ninjas, Rocky III, and Mr. Nanny. Following his passing, tributes for Hogan poured in on social media.
“Man, WTF. Malcolm Jamal Warner, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan. It really happens in 3’s,” one person said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Without him, professional wrestling wouldn’t be where it’s at,” another user added.
Hogan cemented himself as a legend when he joined the WWE. During his tenure, he won the WWE Championship six times. Following his passing, WWE released a statement, referring to Hogan as “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures.”
“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” they wrote in the statement. “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
