Iggy Azalea is closing the book on her rap career for good.
The Aussie rapper made it clear she’s not plotting a comeback after a fan asked on Instagram whether she had signed a new record deal. Under a selfie posted Friday (Nov. 28), the “Fancy” hitmaker shut it down instantly:
“F*** no,” she wrote. “But I did consider signing, for weeks. I’m very sure I don’t want to come back to the music industry.”
Azalea has been slowly stepping away from music since dropping The End of an Era in 2021 — a project she framed as her final lap before shifting into new creative and business lanes. Nearly a decade earlier, she stormed into the mainstream with The New Classic, led by the No. 1 smash “Fancy,” which cemented her as one of the biggest Australian acts to ever breakthrough in hip-hop.
But in recent years, Azalea has opened about the darker side of her rise. Earlier this year, she claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that Universal Music Group owed her “millions” in international royalties — describing the disputed figure as “eight-figure range” and accusing the label of “technically stealing” earnings from her early career. UMG never publicly responded, and Iggy has continued pushing for transparency around royalties and artist rights.
In August, she dove deeper into the emotional toll of fame during an interview with ABC News. She spoke on being labeled an “industry plant,” the nonstop backlash and pressure, and what she called the “battlefield” of the rap game. “I was stepping on landmines left and right, and I just couldn’t survive it,” she admitted. “It’s not survivable. There are some things I walked into and deserve, or things I could have done better. But I can’t sit here all day long feeling sorry about that.”
These days, Iggy is locked in on digital projects, crypto ventures, and online creative work — far from the studio and with zero desire to return.
