A major shakeup in New York Radio could be on the horizon. As Charlamagne the God, host of Power 105.1’s morning show, The Breakfast Club’s return is in jeopardy.
Charlamagne The God Could Be Out at IHeartMedia in 2026
In January 2020, Charlamagne signed a five-year contract extension with iHeartMedia. Along with a new title of Senior Creative Officer of Culture and Content Programming. However, with his contract coming to an end, there have been no updates about a contract renewal. Leading many to speculate that the media maven could be on his way out the door.
According to a media insider, Tasha K, Charlemagne’s contract is not up for renewal because of his political views.
“Allegedly, Charlamagne Tha God’s contract is NOT up for renewal! His contract ends January 21st! A close source tells me they are not bringing him back, reportedly due to his shift into the political space. What does this mean for the future of THE BREAKFAST CLUB?” she wrote in a social media post on Monday (December 15).

Allegedly, Charlamagne Tha God’s contract is NOT up for renewal! His contract ends January 21st! A close source tells me they are not bringing him back, reportedly due to his shift into the political space. 👀 What does this mean for the future of THE BREAKFAST CLUB?…
However, users on social media did not appear to be very disappointed by the news.
“He can go, and they can cancel the whole show, mahn,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Shift in what? The man is a full-blown progressive Democrat. He probably pissed somebody off!” another user added.
“CHARLAMAGNE THE FRAUD— U BLASPHEMOUS BALD PIECE OF SHlT enjoy unemployment, my love,” a third user chimed in.
Whether or not the news is true has yet to be confirmed. But if that is the case, it could equal a major shakeup for the New York City radio scene. Especially after rival radio station, Hot 97, nixed their flagship morning show, Ebro in the Morning, earlier this month.
Charlemagne has not responded to the allegations of his parting ways with iHeartMedia. Stay tuned for more updates.
