J. Cole is taking it back to the grind that started it all. The rapper announced plans to drive across the United States selling physical copies of his new album The Fall-Off straight out of the trunk of his old Honda Civic as part of what he’s calling “Trunk Sale Tour 26.”
In a heartfelt message to fans, Cole explained that he recently brought his longtime Civic back to life with a brand-new engine and felt compelled to reconnect with his roots. He reflected on his teenage years, when he hustled CDs at gas stations after being given copies of The Come Up by his longtime manager Ibrahim Hamad, pitching strangers with a simple question: “Yo, you like hip hop?”
According to Cole, while working on The Fall-Off, he felt a strong urge to relive that raw, face-to-face connection with listeners. Rather than focusing on destinations or a strict route, the goal is simple—pull up, show love, and sell music directly to the people.
“I don’t know where we bout to drive to,” Cole wrote, encouraging fans to catch him outside, cop a CD, or just share a moment. The move reinforces Cole’s reputation for authenticity and reminds fans that even at the highest level, the heart of hip-hop still lives in the hustle.
Mannnnn. Thank yall for the love. For real!!!
