J. Cole has added another major milestone to his legendary career.
The North Carolina rapper’s long-awaited album The Fall-Off debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 280,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Billboard. Of that total, 113,000 came from pure album sales.
The achievement marks Cole’s seventh No. 1 album and represents the biggest first-week sales for a hip-hop album since Playboi Carti’s MUSIC opened with 298,000 units last year.
Cole’s history of chart dominance includes No. 1 debuts from Cole World: The Sideline Story, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, 4 Your Eyez Only, KOD, and The Off-Season. His 2013 album Born Sinner initially debuted at No. 2 behind Ye’s Yeezus, but later climbed to No. 1 in its third week.
Released on February 6 after years of anticipation, The Fall-Off features standout tracks like “Two Six,” “Bunce Road Blues” featuring Future and Tems, and “Run A Train” with Future.
With another chart-topping debut, J. Cole continues to solidify his legacy as one of hip-hop’s most consistent and respected artists.
