What often gets lost in Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s feud is that J. Cole was the catalyst. However, after igniting the feud, J. Cole took a step back, leaving the two emcees to battle one-on-one.
J. Cole Weighs in On Relationship With Kendrick, Drake
The feud between Kendrick and Drake took an especially nasty turn. Both rap artists insert each other’s families into the mix. With Cole playing Switzerland during their beef, many have wondered what the state of his relationships with the two rap stars is like in the aftermath.
Cole revealed that he has held conversations with both artists in the aftermath of their feud.
“I’m in the same place. You know, like, I genuinely love these n****s. I ain’t gonna act like we’ve been communicating and talking. I’ve had conversations with them post-everything, you know what I mean? Like after the fact. But it’s not like it’s a lot,” he said (via Kurrrco/X).
He also says that he has been pessimistic about keeping the lines of communication open between the two stars. b”That’s me not knowing where they are. That’s me, maybe assuming because I heard X, Y, and Z, but it has nothing to do with how I actually feel. I genuinely love these n****s. I want to shoot off a text, I ain’t gon’ lie. Even saying that on the mic is kinda lame to me, but it is my truth.”
Cole’s comments led to a lot of fan reactions on social media.
“F**k the beef, we want all three goats on one track,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“He should stop speaking about it tho. I love him, love that he did what was best for him, but enough of it already,” a second user chimed in.
“God Almighty, I love you, J. Cole, but you’re so insufferably lame smh,” a third user said.
At the time of writing, Drake and Kendrick have not responded to the recent comments made by J. Cole.
