J. Cole is pushing back against a lawsuit filed by Cam’ron over their collaboration “Ready ’24,” asking a judge to dismiss the case in its entirety.
Cam’ron initially filed suit in October 2025, alleging that he was not properly credited or compensated for his featured verse on the track. He also claimed that Cole failed to follow through on an alleged promise to either appear on one of Cam’s songs or on his podcast as part of the agreement.
In a new court filing this week, Cole’s attorneys firmly denied those allegations. According to the response, Cam’ron approved the feature, benefited from the release, and was never promised a podcast or song appearance. The filing also states that Cam is not a co-owner or joint author of “Ready ’24.”
“It was only after the release of ‘Ready ’24’ that he began to demand unreasonable conditions never agreed to by Cole, or an excessive fee inconsistent with industry standards for a featured performance,” the attorneys wrote.
The response further clarified that while Cam’ron asked Cole to appear on his podcast and the two discussed the possibility, no formal commitment or contractual obligation was ever made.
With tensions now playing out in court, Cole is seeking a full dismissal of the lawsuit, arguing that the claims lack merit and were filed in an attempt to pressure and publicly criticize him.
