J. Cole has had many surprises on his The Fall Off tour, but the latest one came from the heart. At his Miami show, he bared witness to the power of love through musical connection.

What Did J. Cole See?

During his performance of “Life Sentence,” one Cole fan went down on his knee and proposed to his longtime girlfriend. The crowd immediately caught the moment, shooting videos and causing a stir. The commotion was enough to get Cole’s attention. He told the venue to get them on the big screen and have the lights shine down on the couple.

“That was amazing. Crowd, teamwork,” J. Cole said. “She said yes. Put the spotlight on my people back there that just got f***** proposed to [during] ‘Life Sentence.’ Oh my God. Spotlight team, whatever the f*** you did last time to whip that spotlight around. Y’all see ’em? What’s up, baby girl? What’s up, my boy? God bless y’all. That’s f***** beautiful. Y’all make some noise for them, man.”

Another couple in the crowd also had a Cole World love story when they let social media know they were heading to the show days before their wedding. Cole and his manager Ibrahim Hamad promptly upgraded them to front row seats. They also got a shoutout during the love fest.

“Y’all are getting married tomorrow? Oh my God!,” Cole said. “Y’all make some noise for my people in the front row who are getting married tomorrow. Yeah, that’s who that song is for.”

Cole will continue his tour with shows coming up in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Canada, before coming back through the East Coast. Tickets are on sale here.

What’s Up With The Magazine?

The North Carolina rapper released a new magazine, The Fall Off, which accompanies his latest album of the same name. The magazine reportedly features 60+ creatives from writing, photography, illustration, design, and artistry to create the finished magazine.

The issue includes interviews with JAY-Z, Lauryn Hill, RZA, Glorilla, J.I.D, Yachty, Cash Cobain, and many more talking about Hip Hop.

In a press release, Editor-In-Chief, Bonsu Thompson, discussed his excitement over the project.

“”Like all essential creative by and for a culture, this collector’s edition arrives when most needed by its audience,” Thompson said. “Hip-Hop journalism has somehow expanded, diversified, atrophied and become amorphous all at once. So my aim was to deploy storytelling and the humanization of starpower to educate the world on how Godly the craftsmen and innovation behind Hip-Hop commerce were, are and will forever be. No wifi needed.”

It’s unclear if the project will continue forward, or serve as a one off. You can buy the magazine for $40 at thefalloff.com.

In the magazine, he reveals he almost quit rap in 2014 before Kendrick Lamar convinced him not to.
