For months, J. Cole made it clear that The Fall Off would be his last album and the subsequent tours would mark the end of his music career. This didn’t shock many. Cole has consistently pursued other ventures in business, finance, record labels and even basketball.

But now, after a successful tour and one of his highest acclaimed albums he’s decided to keep the momentum going.
While sitting down with GQ’s Frazier Tharpe, Cole and his long time manager Mark Pitts, reflected on his career and the elephant in the room came up: is he really walking away?
Turns out, not today.
““After this tour right here? Come on man, this is crazy… When I was making that album, I was making it like, ‘Damn, this is going to be my last s***.’ Luckily, by the time I got to actually finishing the album, because of circumstances, I’m like, ‘Nah, I’ll never say I’m going to retire.’ I don’t know when the next thing is going to happen, but I’m definitely not going to say no,” Cole said.
This comes after Cole decided not to submit his album to the Grammys, despite becoming the odds on favorite to win it.
This leaves the Grammys in a peculiar spot, as the two front running albums in Hip Hop categories will not be eligible for the award.
Currently, it appears the new front runners to win Grammy for best Hip Hop album is Cardi B’s Am I The Drama and Don Toliver’s Octane. Other contenders include ASAP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb, Isaiah Rashad’s It’s Been Awful, and Baby Keem’s Casino.
Kanye West has also submitted his comeback album Bully for consideration.
