Unpaid royalties are nothing foreign when it comes to dealings with Cash Money Records and their flamboyantly flashy CEO Brian “Birdman” Williams. What is shocking about Lil Wayne’s unpaid royalties is the fact that this is the one artist that was thought to be untouchable by Birdman’s unfairness and lawsuits. Birdman refers Lil Wayne to this day as his son and when the news surfaced that Lil Wayne was unhappy in his Cash Money deal everyone was taken aback by this unbelievable news.
Even fellow artist and peers are perplexed by Birdman’s treatment of Lil Wayne on a financial level. Rick Ross has openly spoken about his displeasure on the situation in various interviews and most recently on his song “Idols Become Rivals” where Ross raps:
“I pray you find the kindness in your heart for Wayne
His entire life, he gave you what there was to gain
I watched this whole debacle so I’m part to blame”
Now the Rap-A-Lot boss and legendary Hip-Hop mogul J Prince has something to say about the situation. It is noteworthy that J Prince’s son Jas Prince has had various business dealings with Lil Wayne in the pass including getting Jas’s artist at the time Drake signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint.
So not only does Birdman owe Lil Wayne unpaid royalties J Prince alludes to the fact that Birdman may owe Prince’s son Jas Prince some royalties as well. TMZ recently caught up with J Prince and he made it very clear that he will stop at nothing to make sure this matter is resolved and all parties are paid.
