The Queens rapper recently appeared on Fox 5’s Good Day New York, to speak about his upcoming tour and promote his Amber & Opal whiskey brand.
Host Rosanna Scotto mentioned that “crazy Billy McFarland” is promoting a new Fyre Fest and asked for Rule’s thoughts. Ja responded, “Oh lord, no he isn’t,” then laughed, before jokingly trying to change the subject with a toast.
He added with laughter, “I’m not going to be there, but cheers!
Ja Rule was involved in promoting the disastrous first edition of Fyre Festival in 2017 which resulted in several lawsuits. Following the release of Netflix’s FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, he defended his participation on social media.
“I had an amazing vision to create a festival like NO OTHER!!! I would NEVER SCAM or FRAUD anyone what sense does that make???” he wrote in one post.
In another he adde, “I too was hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead […] astray!!!””
A judge ultimately ruled that he was not liable, as there was no evidence he knew of the event’s severe mismanagement.
Billy McFarland Throws Shade at Ja Rule While Promoting New Fest
Billy McFarland, the convicted organizer of the original Fyre Festival, is reportedly working on bringing the festival back, this time on Isla Mujeres, a picturesque island off the coast of Cancún, Mexico. However, local tourism authorities have denied any knowledge of these plans.
In a previous interview, McFarland suggested that 50 Cent could replace Ja be as a headliner for Fyre Festival 2.
“I’m actually gonna try to call 50 Cent later today and come and see if he’ll headline Sunday night,” said McFarland. “We gotta give 50 Cent the spot so he can do what Ja Rule never could.”
