When Jake Paul first hit the scene, he was known as a social media influencer. But he has quickly risen in the ranks as one of the more popular combat athletes.
Quietly, Paul has etched out a pretty impressive record over these last four years. He’s scored victories over the likes of Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva, and boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Jake Paul & Tank Davis Set to Duel In Atlanta
But Paul’s next bout could be his most difficult task to date. Per ESPN, Paul is scheduled to fight boxing champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis in Atlanta, Georgia. The duel will take place at State Farm Arena on November 14. The fight is being promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and will air exclusively on Netflix.
In a statement to ESPN, Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said that they were awaiting the sequel of Tank vs Lamont Roach. After a controversial decision in their first matchup in March, where Tank came out victorious by a majority draw. But things just didn’t shake out that way.
“The original timeline assumed that ‘Tank’ would be fighting Jake [Paul] after he fought Roach,” Bidarian told ESPN. “The outcome didn’t necessarily change anything per se, but our timeline of waiting around to see what Davis was going to do resulted in Jake fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.”
Following the announcement of Paul and Tank’s upcoming fight, Roach took to social media to roast Tank. “Told Ya,” he wrote with a plethora of duck emojis appearing to insinuate that Tank was ducking a rematch.
Fans in the comments section appeared to agree with his sentiments.
“Nah, can’t front that s**t, lame. Buddy might as well retire after this,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“NASSSSTY work, but on to the next. Let’s get it next,” one fan wrote with an accompanying picture of boxing star Shakur Stevenson.
