Jake’s Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions, is coming down hard on boxing star Claressa Shields. As a result of her altercation with boxer Alycia Baumgardner during the Rhonda Rousey, Gina Carano fight on Saturday (May 16).
MVP Bans Shields After Baumgardner Incident
Following the incident, MVP released a statement and noted that Shield’s actions “reflect poorly on MVP and women’s sports.” As a result, they have banned Shields from future events until further notice
“MVP maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for hostile, threatening, or aggressive behavior toward fighters, staff, media, or guests at any of our events. Effective immediately, Claressa Shields is banned from all MVP events until further notice,” the statement reads, as caught by AllHipHop.
The statement continues: “There is a time and a place for fighter tension and banter, but to physically attack a fellow athlete while there as a guest inside a private VIP area is unacceptable.”
Shields and Baumgardner have a documented history of issues. The two fighters frequently trade verbal jabs online and in interviews. Shields has been critical of Baumgardner’s in-ring performances, while Baumgardner has questioned Shields’ discipline and called out her behavior.
So when the two came face to face during the backstage area at the Intuit Dome, things got heated. And ended with Shields slapping Baumgardner in a video that quickly went viral online.

After the altercation, Shields sounded off on social media. And did not express any remorse for her actions.
“Imma continue giving b****es hell, respectfully,” Shields wrote. “That lil a** girl said, ‘I’ll beat your a** right now, ‘ after already disrespecting me. Now you’re classy and playing victim. Can’t go around threatening people, take that & try and GET YOUR LICK BACK.”
However, Shields has not responded to MVP’s decision to ban her.
