Jam Master Jay’s Killer Assaulted During Prison Brawl

Although it has been more than two decades since his murder, not everyone is willing to let bygones be bygones. According to ABC News, Karl Jordan, the man accused of murdering the legendary DJ, was stabbed at the Brooklyn Detention Center, where he is currently awaiting sentencing following his conviction.

“Karl Jordan, who was convicted a year ago in connection with Jam Master Jay’s death, was stabbed over the weekend at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn where he is awaiting sentencing,” ABC News writes.

“Jordan was hospitalized after the stabbing. His condition was not immediately clear.”

The outlet also adds that Jordan has not been officially sentenced. The reason is that he is attempting to overturn his 2024 guilty conviction.

“Jordan’s sentencing date has not been set. A federal judge in Brooklyn is mulling his attempt to overturn the verdict.”

It has yet to be confirmed if the brawl involving Karl Jordan was in connection to the legendary DJ’s murder. But what we do know is that his killer was involved in a jailhouse brawl on February 22, which led to him being stabbed.

But at least one of Jam Master Jay’s cousins doesn’t feel that would be the appropriate consequence for his actions.

“I think him being killed would be the easy way out,” said the cousin, Carlis Thompson. “I’d rather him just be in jail for the rest of his life.”

During the investigations, it was discovered that Jam Master Jay had begun selling drugs after his success as a DJ began to fade. Multiple reports suggested that he and his friend Ronald Washington became angry when they were cut out of a drug deal. The two retaliated by shooting the legendary DJ at his studio in 2002.
