Jay Electronica’s recent comments about Sean “Diddy” Combs have sparked major debate.

Jay Electronica Campaigns For Diddy’s Release

During a recent performance in Miami, the rapper campaigned for the Bad Boy Records founder to be released from prison.

“Free Puff, by the way. They tried to hang my dawg on some bulls**t. Just because a n***a likes to get nasty, they tried to hit him with a book of words,” the rapper said in a clip caught by XXL.

The comments made by Jay Electronica led to a lot of backlash from fans in the comments section of the social media post.

“You can tell he thinks he’s the smartest man in the room, anywhere he goes. What a lame f**k,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“This dude has been a lame all his career, but it got overshadowed because he could ‘Rap,'” a second user chimed in.

“I would’ve immediately left and asked for a refund. Free the n****a we saw stomp out Cassie in the hallway? No ma’am,” a third user remarked.

Puff Files New Appeal Arguing Against Conviction

When Diddy was initially swept up by the feds, he was also facing trafficking and RICO charges. However, the music mogul was only convicted of interstate prostitution when the verdict was handed down last May. Related to his involvement with his ex-girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura, and a Jane Doe.

Diddy was handed down a 50-month prison sentence. And has since made several attempts to be granted an early release. In his latest appeal, Diddy’s lawyers argue that the sentencing handed down by Judge Subramanian was an act of “acquitted conduct” sentencing. It is defined as a legal practice where a judge increases a defendant’s sentence based on criminal behavior for which a jury has already found them “not guilty”.

However, his attorneys argued that he did not violate the Mann Act (a US federal law prohibiting the interstate or foreign transport of individuals for prostitution). Because he did not engage in prostitution. But rather his “freak-offs” were nothing more than amateur pornography.

Diddy and his lawyer are still waiting on a response to the appeal. He is currently scheduled to be released in 2028.
