While on stage, Hov rapped, “A rapper can’t be my opp,” a line many fans immediately connected to Drake’s recent bars aimed in his direction.
On “The Jig Is Up,” Drake raps: “The jig is up, n** I’m up 10 / Wrong chart champ, n****s looked up to Hov, I never looked up to them.”**
The line sparked debate online, with fans questioning whether Drake was taking a direct shot at Jay-Z or simply making a competitive statement. Jay-Z’s freestyle only added more fuel to the conversation, as many believe Hov was letting it be known that he doesn’t view any rapper as real opposition.
With Jay-Z delivering the line in Philadelphia at Roots Picnic, the moment quickly became one of the most talked-about Hip-Hop clips of the weekend.
