Jay-Z dropped a new freestyle during his appearance at the Roots Picnic on Saturday Night (May 30). And he did not spare any of his oppositions during his performance.
Jay-Z Appears to Confront Kanye West in Roots Picnic Freestyle
One of the people whom Jay-Z appeared to confront was Kanye West. After his one-time close cohort unleashed a bevy of social media posts aimed at him and his family last year.
“You ever heard of wonder-kin? My children are some of them. Have you n****s have no shame? You really wanna get under my skin? I’ll really get under ya skin, ask Un how I’m playing,” he said.

The lyrics appeared to be in response to Ye’s 2025 social media rant where he referred to Jay-Z & Beyonce’s kids as “retarded.” As for the Un reference? He appears to be talking about Lance “Un” Rivera. Jay-Z and Un got into a huge altercation at the Kit-Kit Club during Q-Tip’s album release party in New York City in 1999 that resulted in Un being stabbed. Many people alleged that it was Jay-Z who stabbed Un after he pleaded to third-degree assault for his role in the altercation and received three years’ probation.
In short, he appears to be sending a warning to Ye. He also asserts that he only has that type of energy on the internet.
“Y’all thugs with y’all thumb again, everybody thinks they’re the ones insane, you’re no maniac, watch how sane he acts in my presence, n****s shrink,” he adds.
At the time of writing, Kanye has not responded to the comments made by Jay-Z.
