In October, pop star Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show. And it has led to a lot of backlash.

But despite the unenthusiastic reactions about Bad Bunny’s selection being pushed through the media, Jay-Z says that people shouldn’t be fooled. Because Bad Bunny is a fan favorite.
“They love him, don’t let them fool you,” he stated during a recent run-in with TMZ.
Following the announcement earlier this month, the Black Album creator released a statement. Calling Bad Bunny’s impact on music and his hometown of Puerto Rico “inspiring.”
“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” Jay-Z said via @Kurrco. “We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
Bad Bunny also released a statement following the announcement. Sharing his excitement about his upcoming performance.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” the pop star said in a statement as heard through CBS. “It’s for those who came before me. Ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
There had been a bunch of negative reactions to the Chambea creator being selected as the halftime performer. Most of it comes from political talking heads.
Even United States President Donald Trump sarcastically jabbed that he had never heard of Bad Bunny after he was announced as the performer.
Bad Bunny has been openly critical of. In addition, he elected not to perform his tour in any American cities, for fear that it could be targeted by ICE agents, as a large percentage of his fanbase is immigrants. And could result in them being deported.
Nevertheless, Bad Bunny remains one of the biggest stars in the music industry, and it will be interesting to see what he has in store.
