Rap star Young Jeezy may have missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime. The Trap or Die creator revealed that he wrote a verse for Jay-Z and Beyonce’s smash hit, Drunk in Love. However, his verse never made it to the light.
Jeezy Says Jay-Z Scrapped His Verse on Drunk in Love
During a recent interview on the 7 p.m. in Brooklyn podcast, Jeezy revealed that it was Jay-Z who scrapped his verse.
“I dropped the ball when I wrote my verse for ‘Drunk In Love’ for Beyoncé,” Jeezy explained. “Hov called me. He’s like, ‘I took you off the song. By the way, I’m on there.’ I was like, ‘I figured that.’
The rap star seemed to insinuate that Jay-Z was intimidated by the verse he laid down for the hit song. Which is why his verse was ultimately removed from the hit record.
“He came in the room and she’s like, ‘You got something for this?’ You know, I’m going in. It sounded crazy. This is her song, but I’m just trying to go hard. He probably like, ‘Oh nah. We no putting that out,” he added.
Jeezy didn’t seem to take the move personally. He joked that his going so hard on the verse was probably a “mistake” in hindsight. But he did plead with Queen Bey to leak the unheard verse so that at least the fans could hear it.
“It’s on someone’s drive. Tell Bey we need to put that out. It’s some vintage,” he concluded.
Rap Star Feels ‘Amazing’ Following Custody Battle
Elsewhere in the Snowman’s life, he recently came out victorious in his custody battle with his ex-wife and famed television host, Jeannie May. When asked about his mood following the split, Jeezy said that he was feeling “amazing.”
“I tell myself this every day, ‘Man, this is amazing,” he said during a recent appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.
“I don’t get no enemies… no issues, I don’t want no enemies or issues, I just want peace, joy, and freedom. I love my freedom. Freedom is everything. Especially when you’re talking about art, culture– you’re talking your mind… This is the season of me. I’m putting myself first at all costs.”
