Jermaine Dupri Signs DVSN to New Deal
After signing the duo, Dupri talked about how he watched the relationship between DVSN and their fans. And after seeing how much love they got, signing them to his label was a no-brainer.
“After working with dvsn on their last album, going to their shows, seeing how much their fans love them, and then when I heard that they had just become free agents I had to sign them and make dvsn my first signing at So So Def/HYBE,” Dupri said in a statement via his Instagram page on June 2nd.
The group signed with Drake’s OVO Sound label in 2015. During their time with the label, they released four studio albums. September. 5th (2016), Morning After (2017), A Muse in Her Feelings (2020), and Working on My Karma (2022). They also tapped Ty Dolla Sign for a collab album titled Cheers To The Memories in 2021.
This won’t be Dupri’s first time being linked to Drizzy.
The super producer is one of the creators of a five-part docu-series on the historic Atlanta strip club, Magic City that is set to premiere on the STARZ network.
Drake’s production company, Dreamcrew Entertainment, will also be a part of the project.
The network already has some connection to the Atlanta landmark. One of their original series, P-Valley dives into the darker side of working in a strip club. In addition, their show BMF, which is based on the rise and fall of the Black Mafia Family drug empire, takes place in 1990s Atlanta, when Magic City was at its peak.
