Pusha T & Malice also known as the rap duo, Clipse are preparing to release their first album in 15 years. The project titled, Let God Sort ‘Em Out arrives on July 11.
Jim Jones Not Impressed By New Clipse Music
While most rap fans are excited to see the Thorton brothers reunite in the studio for the first time in over a decade, others are not as thrilled. Such as rap artist Jim Jones. After the Clips released the first single off the new project titled, Ace Trumpets, Jones was left underwhelmed.
“What’s so great about it? It’s good in what? The nostalgic value of it? I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it, I don’t believe them,” Jones said during an interview with Bootleg Kev at the BET Awards in June.
He also added: “But that’s a whole other story and I don’t wanna downplay nobody’s craft… but I don’t listen to their music and never have. I don’t recall too many records that I can remember.”
Jim Jones & Pusha T’s Beef Explained
Jim Jones and Pusha T have had a budding beef since 2023. It stems from a debate about the top 50 rappers of all time. And Jones said that Pusha would not place on that list.
“What has he done that puts him among the greatest rappers of all time? Besides talk about cocaine that he probably didn’t get himself,” Jones said. “He could rap his ass off but what has he done? Nobody has dressed like him. Nobody wants to be like Pusha T. I don’t remember anything.”
King Push appeared to hit back at the emcee on a 2023 track titled Whips and Chains. Insinuating that the former Diplomats star is past his prime.
“You’d think there’d be honor amongst veterans,” Pusha T raps on the track. “I am watching your fame escape relevance/We’re all in the room, but here’s the elephant/You’re chasing a feature out of your element.”
In a recent interview with GQ, Pusha delved into his issues with Jones. Seemingly more confused about why he was ever mentioning him in the first place.
“I personally never understood what the interviews were about,” Pusha says. “Or why my name kept coming up. It’s one thing to keep saying I’m not a top 50 MC, but it’s another thing for you not to say that you [yourself] are one,” he said.
“No one asked me about a Top 50 nothing. After about the third interview, I promise you, I said, Man, he must really want me to know what he thinks about me. And that’s how [my] verse came. This is what I really think about him. This is what I really think about him. Every line is my true heart.”
