Jim Jones has acquired a new target in rap legend Nas. And amid his recent verbal assaults on the Queensbridge native, he has made probably his most egregious claim yet.
Jim Jones Continues to Call Out Nas
During a recent appearance on the Bag Fuel podcast, the “We Fly High” creator claimed that his recent criticism about Nas is making him relevant again. He doubled down saying that this is the most relevant that he has been since he feuded with Jay-Z.
“He’s never been this viral ever,” Jones said.
Of course in the minds of many, Nas clears Jim Jones in several categories.
His 1996 album It Was Written peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 200. His 1999 album I Am is RIAA-certified double-platinum. And although his 1994 Illmatic project didn’t achieve as much success, it is still widely considered a classic album.
But despite Nas’s plethora of awards, Jim says that accolades don’t necessarily measure impact.
“There’s a lot of people that sold more records than me that are also not around anymore,” he said. “What I did for Nas probably never been done for him in his life. He’s never been that viral at all. Ever. He’s never been talked about like this ever in his life.”

During a recent interview on Fat Joe and Jadakiss’s, Joe & Jada podcast, the famed Diplomats member echoed a similar sentiment. Noting that his son can not name any Nas songs, and seemed to imply that his impact has spanned longer.
“I was a superior Nas fan but when you get into the game you realize your idols are rivals,” Jones said. “My son can’t tell me one Nas record. I got a hell of a catalog. Me, Jim Jones, myself, gold records, platinum records, no Diplomats, nobody else, me, Jim Jones.”
To this point, Nas has yet to respond to Jim Jones.
