It’s release week for Drake as his ninth studio album, Iceman, is set to drop this Friday (May 15).
But some fans are speculating that Drizzy’s nemesis, Kendrick Lamar, could also have a drop prepared for that same day.
Budden Reacts to Kendrick Potentially Stepping on Drake’s Release
During the Wednesday (May 13) episode of the Joe Budden Podcast, the rapper-turned-podcaster said that Dot dropping on Drake’s release date would be “the funniest s**t in hip-hop history.”
Burden further clarified that he isn’t “rooting for Drake’s demise” in any way, form, or fashion. Even though many of Drake’s defenders, such as DJ Akademiks, may think so.
Joe also noted that he was interested to see how losing the battle to Kendrick Lamar in 2024 could ultimately impact the new music that he intends to drop.

Lamar and Drake’s feud became a pop culture phenomenon. It went way beyond the hip-hop world. Kendrick Lamar’s smash hit Not Like Us, which targets Drake, received mentions at both the Emmys and the Oscars the following year.
However, Dot says that people shouldn’t think that he’s an “angry” person as a result of their feud. When speaking with his former TDE teammate SZA about his feud with Drizzy, he says that “love and war” must exist when it comes to hip hop.
“I don’t believe I’m an angry person,” Lamar said as caught by Billboard. “But I do believe in love and war, and I believe they both need to exist. And my awareness of that allows me to react to things but not identify with them as who I am. Just allowing them to exist and allowing them to flow through me. That’s what I believe.”
