Budden has been a noted Drake critic. While Akademiks has become one of Drake’s cohorts. And a trusted source when it comes to Drake news.
As Drake prepares to drop his ninth studio album, Iceman, Budden questions if his former Everyday Struggle co-host is starting to switch sides on him.
“Ak, I hear your lil streams n**** you want War? Like what’s up.. you tryna turn s*** up? I gotta call my man to see what’s going on,” the rapper said during the Wednesday (May 6) episode of his podcast.

While Budden’s rant appeared to be somewhat satirical, users in the comments section believe that a beef has been brewing between the former Complex hosts for a long time.
“Joe has been lowkey shooting at Ak for a minute now. Letting Mona and Marc get her unwarranted shit off, mentioning the gambling shit, etc.,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Joe messes with a lot of Ak opps like Mona and Marc, it ain’t got nothing to do with Drake, he’s definitely ready to pull the trigger lol,” a second user chimed in.
“Joe doesn’t want to smoke with Ak; he doesn’t have the endurance. He might go at ak one or two pods. Ak would talk about Joe forever,” a third user remarked.
At the time of writing, Akademiks has not responded to the comments made by Joe Budden.
