Drake is reportedly set to drop his ninth studio album, Iceman, before the end of the year. This will be his first solo album since his feud with Kendrick Lamar. So fans have major expectations for the forthcoming album. However, Joe Budden says he doesn’t have his expectations set that high for the Toronto-born artist.
Joe Budden Says Drake’s Music Fell Off After ‘Scorpion’
While it may sound like another case of Budden sounding salty, he went into detail about why. Noting that Drake has reached such a peak in his music career, a fall off was bound to happen at some point.
I think that what goes up has to come down,” Budden said during a recent appearance on Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast. “That’s not a Drake thing. I think he was just on such a streak that, at some point, it had to come down.”
Where did the fall off happen in Budden’s opinion? The podcast creator said that after he dropped “Scorpion” in 2018, the “quality” of the music began to decline.
He also clarified that “quality” is not equal to stream or album sales. He is referring specifically to the quality of the music that was put out.
“We’re not talking about streams or success. Hearing somebody that did everything he did from So Far Gone up to that point and then listening to everything that came after that just didn’t sound like the same person to me.”

However, many of Drake’s fans on social media had a different opinion.
“A f*****g clown if I ever saw one. I can’t imagine being so blinded by hate that I just completely disregard all facts & logic because I’m so deeply emotional about another man,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“There’s literally pod footage of him sweating. Her Loss. He doesn’t know if he wants to hate the man or give him credit,” another user added.
At the time of writing, Drake has not responded to Budden’s comments about him.
