After weeks of trading subtle shots, Joyner Lucas and Skepta have taken their simmering tension to the booth.
On Tuesday morning, Joyner fired back at Skepta’s recent diss track “Friendly Fire” with a blistering new single titled “Nobody Cares.” The track dropped just days after Skepta’s high-profile Wireless Festival appearance, and Joyner wasted no time going for the jugular: “Maybe you’re mad ‘cause you ain’t got buzz in the U.K. no more / I heard your career just ain’t what it was and you don’t get paid no more,” he raps.
The back-and-forth stems from Skepta’s controversial comments earlier this month, suggesting that U.K. rappers could out-rap their U.S. counterparts. Joyner was quick to respond on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “The moment I’ve been waiting for… say the word, Joyner Lucas vs @Skepta. #UKvsUS.”
Now, with diss tracks flying, the U.K. vs U.S. showdown is officially underway.
