Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, ran their hustle together—but when it comes to facing the judge, they’re riding solo.
A federal judge just denied Turner’s request to be sentenced on the same day as her son. She wanted to stand in front of the court on August 15, just hours apart from Kingston. Prosecutors and probation officers didn’t object—but the judge still shut it down. Now, Turner’s headed to sentencing a month earlier, on July 11.
Back in March, both were convicted of masterminding a flashy fraud scheme. According to prosecutors, they used Kingston’s celebrity to finesse luxury vendors—dropping fake wire transfers and phony paperwork to walk off with high-end gear and services, no payment up front. It was a smoke-and-mirrors scam, and the industry bought into it.
But the fall came fast.
On top of the fraud conviction, Kingston’s also catching heat for violating his probation from a previous stolen property case. And in February, Ver Ver Entertainment sued him, claiming he never paid up after securing a 232-inch TV and an elite sound system.
If things don’t go their way in court, both could be looking at up to 20 years behind bars.
