Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by the feds in New York City in September 2024 after it was alleged that the music mogul had spearheaded a sex trafficking ring that spanned for over two decades.
Diddy Found Not Guilty on Three of The Five Charges
After nearly two months of testimony, the jury needed just three days to come to a consensus on whether or not the music mogul was guilty of the crimes he was charged with. On Wednesday, July 2, the jury delivered their decision.
Diddy was found not guilty of racketeering, trafficking of Cassie, and the trafficking of Jane Doe. He was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution related to Cassie and was found guilty of the same such charges related to Jane Doe.
After the explosive verdict was revealed in the case of the music mogul, fans sounded off on social media.
“Ok so how many years is he getting?? Maannnnnn fuck those jurors fr,” one person said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“His lawyers were too good and the prosecution not so much,” another user added.
One thing that left a lot of people confused was Diddy’s decision to not take the stand. Especially after the prosecution had brought forth several key witnesses who were witnesses to his years of alleged hostile acts. It was a decision that paid off in the end
Cassie Was Key Part of Federal Trial
Although Combs was arrested by federal investigators in September, this process began in November 2023. That is when his former girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura, slapped him with a civil suit.
The suit accused Combs of trafficking her during their long-term relationship. Diddy eventually settled with Ventura out of court. But that was just the beginning of his legal woes.
Cassie’s suit had a domino effect. As a result of her civil suit, several of Diddy’s former associates came forward. Either alleging that they were a victim of his abuse or at the very least witnessed him do it. And that launched a federal investigation into his past behaviors, which ultimately led to his arrest in September 2024.
Now we await the sentence that will be handed down on the two charges he was convicted of
