The jury in the Tupac Shakur murder trial has reportedly been finalized, bringing the long-awaited case one step closer to opening statements.
According to Fox 13, the jury consists of six men and 10 women following four days of jury selection. The group will determine the fate of former Crip gang leader Duane “Keefe D” Davis, with opening statements expected to begin Monday (Aug. 17).
Davis faces one count of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang in connection with Tupac’s 1996 killing. Authorities allege Davis was present during the fatal drive-by shooting and provided the gun used in the attack.
Investigators have said the shooting was retaliation for a fight earlier that night at the MGM Grand involving Tupac, Suge Knight, members of Death Row and Orlando Anderson, who was long suspected of being the gunman.
Davis’ public interviews and statements in his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, helped bring renewed attention to the decades-old case. He was arrested in 2023 and has pleaded not guilty.
If convicted, Davis could face life in prison.
