Ye, formerly known as rap star Kanye West, has found himself in more legal trouble. According to a Tuesday (April 14) report from TMZ.
Kanye West Being Sued Over Alleged 2024 Assault
Per the outlet, West is being sued for “battery and infliction of emotional distress.” Over an alleged assault that occurred in 2024. The alleged incident happened at an upscale Los Angeles hotel, the Chateau Marmont. When the West “sucker punched” a man (who is filing as John Doe) while he was sitting at his dining table.
Per the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the man claims that West hit him so hard that the punch “knocked him to the ground,” causing him to “hit his head and [lose] consciousness.” Ye continued his assault by “repeatedly [punching] him as he lay unconscious on the ground.”
The catalyst of West’s assault was that John Doe was inappropriate towards a woman who was in Kanye’s entourage. But he says that isn’t true. It’s even more of a legal issue because Ye “repeated and embellished these lies during a widely viewed podcast appearance, exposing plaintiff to public scorn, suspicion and ridicule.”
The amount that John Doe is seeking in his lawsuit remains unspecified.
Kanye has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
The Grammy-winner has found himself drowning in a sea of legal woes. Earlier this month, one of his former employees, Johnathan Monroe, who worked as a bodyguard for the rap star around 2021, said that he was never compensated for overtime hours worked and “other damages,” totaling around $850K.
Per TMZ, Monroe says he tried to collect the money he was owed from West. But claims he was given the “run around.”
