According to The Wall Street Journal, Kanye West is donating $10 million to the Turrell Art Foundation.
The charitable gift will help fund James Turrell’s Roden Crater Project, which is one that will see him transform a volcano crater into an observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz. The project will “offer a series of pathways, tunnels, chambers and openings onto the sky from within and around the crater’s surface,” according to Turrell’s website.
Kanye visited the Roden Crater last December and was blown away by what he saw. He told The Wall Street Journal, via a statement, that he wants the Roden Crater Project to be “experienced and enjoyed for eternity.”
As for Mr. Turrell, he’s thrilled about Kanye’s huge donation to the project.
Drake’s “Hotline Bling” video was inspired by Turrell although he had nothing do with the creation of the visual itself.
Kanye West’s $10 million donation to the Extinct Volcano Project may be his biggest donation yet.
Went to visit the James Turrell crater two days ago. This is life changing. We all will live in Turrell spaces
