Kanye West Ignites Beef With Kendrick Lamar
Ye unleashed a series of heated social media posts at Kendrick. One of which claimed that he was in cahoots with Universal Music Group CEO, Lucien Grainge. That is when one fan chimed in noting that Ye was just seeking a response from the Good Kid M.A.A.D. city artist. That’s when West responded to the fan, basically daring Kendrick to come at him on behalf of the famed music exec.
“Kendrick Pleaseeeee come diss me on behalf of Lucien Grange, Pleaseeee,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
It is only Tuesday, but already it has been a busy week for Lucien and UMG. And all of the drama stems from Kendrick’s 2024 smash hit, Not Like Us.
The song which takes aim at rap superstar Drake has been at the center of controversy over the last year. It all came to a head at the end of 2024 when Drizzy slammed several corporations with a lawsuit over the song. Noting that there was a significant uptick in promoting a song that painted him in a negative light.
However, in a new statement filed by the record label’s lawyers, the company said that Drake’s complaint against them is just a case of him sucking sour grapes.
“Instead of accepting the loss like the unbothered rap artist he often claims to be, he has sued his own record label. In a misguided attempt to salve his wounds. Plaintiff’s complaint is utterly without merit and should be dismissed with prejudice,” the statement reads.
The drama surrounding Not Like Us, doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon.
