It appeared as if Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance spelled the end of his feud with Drake. But it appears as if things are just getting started between the two emcees.
Kendrick Lamar Appears to Address Drake’s Litigation
Kendrick shocked everyone when it was announced that he was the surprise feature on Playboi Carti’s new album, I am Music. The album was released on March 14. After hearing some of the lyrics on Kendrick’s features it appears that he is still coming at Drake. Specifically regarding the Grammy-winners lawsuit over Kendrick’s song, Not Like Us
“The numbers is nothing, the money is nothing, I really been him, I promise / Say Kenny has been heavy out West and I carry the weight, n-gga, I’m Luka Dončić / Conspiracy theories is a given, but I must admit it, you got the wrong person,” he raps.
Drake sued several different entities over the distribution of Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 hit. After the song which aims Drizzy remained atop the music charts for most of the year, the artist took legal action. Drake brought several companies into the litigation, alleging that they conspired to execute mass promotion of the song.
However, Drake has already dropped one of those lawsuits against radio giant, Iheart Radio. Drake admitted that the company did “nothing wrong,” concerning their promotion of the song. And that no payments were made by either side.
“In exchange for documents that showed iHeart did nothing wrong, Drake agreed to drop his petition. No payments were made – by either one of us,” one source said to Rolling Stone.
“We are pleased that the parties were able to reach a settlement satisfactory to both sides and have no further comment on this matter.”
It was around this time last year that Kendrick’s verse on Like That turned the music industry on its head. It appears that fans could be getting a round 2.
