Kendrick Lamar isn’t letting up on the rap industry.
As his surprise album GNX continues its quiet domination, the Compton rapper has officially broken the record for the longest-running No. 1 rap album in Billboard history. After 22 consecutive weeks atop the chart, GNX is now the new benchmark for longevity in hip-hop’s streaming era—without a single press run or promo cycle.
Originally released last November with zero notice, GNX has proved to be Kendrick’s most enigmatic and enduring work to date. A fever dream of introspective verses, cryptic samples, and abstract sequencing, the album is a puzzle fans have clearly been eager to solve—again and again.
Meanwhile, Kendrick and SZA just wrapped the North American leg of their Grand National Tour, now officially the highest-grossing co-headlining rap tour of all time. The numbers are staggering: over $256 million in gross revenue, $11.1 million per show on average, and more than 1.1 million tickets sold.
As the duo sets their sights on Europe this July, Kendrick has also announced a new Latin American leg of the tour, adding stops in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. Buenos Aires duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso are set to open, bringing their glitchy, punk-laced reggaetón to Kendrick’s ever-expanding stage.
And just when fans thought they had a moment to catch their breath, Kendrick popped out with a scathing feature on Clipse’s forthcoming Let God Sort ’Em Out (the same verse that got No Malice and Pusha T released from Def Jam).
Between the record-breaking album, the global tour takeover, and a heat-check guest verse alongside rap legends, Kendrick is reminding everyone exactly why his name rings different.
