Kendrick Lamar holds people to a high standard, including himself. So when he says he’s going to follow through on a promise, he does it.
That’s what he did when he invited 7-year-old Romell Frazier Jr. to LA for a custom birthday party after the child suffered a horrible accident.
According to a report by Click On Detroit, Frazier Jr. was attacked by two pit bulls in March, resulting in both his arms having to be amputated. His mother Preshauna Jones said the attack also left his legs injured and the cost of his surgeries and recovery.
When Frazier finally got through his extended hospital stay, he had one wish: have Kendrick Lamar attend his birthday party. On the day of the party, Frazier was in for a surprise. Kendrick didn’t make the party physically, but he gave the young fighter a call.
“I’m glad you reached out. I’m glad I got to talk to you,” Lamar told Frazier. Kendrick then invited Frazier to extend his birthday in Los Angeles, which he accepted the invitation.
“You continue to be great, continue to keep that smile on your face, man. You got a beautiful life to live. You’re giving us a whole lot of inspiration with how strong you are,” Lamar told him.
The pgLang artist also spoke to Frazier’s mother. “It goes to show how great of a parent you are and the household you got for him,” he told her. “He had that smile on his face, and he’s just pushing and he’s showing that strength.”
At times, we’ve seen celebs back out on these lavish promises. But Kendrick didn’t do that.
Last week, Frazier Jr. and his mother flew out to LA where Kendrick Lamar greeted them and had them hang out in an undisclosed location.
Videos surfaced of Frazier Jr. hanging with Lamar, grinning ear to ear as he gazed upon his cake while partygoers sang happy birthday to him.
It appears Kendrick hooked Frazier up with some Spider-Man themed gifts, including a full suit.
The family’s Go Fund Me is still active if you’d like to help them cover his extensive medical bills. The fund is just $2k away from reaching its goal.

After Romell lost both arms in a dog attack earlier this year, his birthday wish was to meet Kendrick. Kendrick surprised him with a FaceTime call on his 7th birthday and invited him to Los Angeles.
