When Kendrick and SZA’s Grand National tour hit AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, on April 26, Kendrick acquired another record. His Grand National tour became the highest-grossing concert by a Black male as a headlining or co-headlining artist in history after raking in a whopping $11.822 million.

Kendrick’s ‘Grand National’ Tour Sets Another Record

Now less than a month later the tour has already smashed that record. According to Our Generation Music, Kendrick now has the highest-grossing concert in hip-hop history.

“After selling 60,941 tickets and grossing $14.811 million at the Lumen Field in Seattle, Kendrick Lamar once again has the highest-grossing concert in Hip Hop history,” the outlet wrote in an Instagram caption on May 21.

The concert isn’t just putting up these astronomical numbers off of industry hype. Attendees have raved about how good the show actually is. Even some of Kendrick’s biggest critics have shown praise to the rap star for putting on an incredible set.

Most recently hip-hop influencer, and noted Drake fan, DJ Akademiks, showed praise to Kendrick and the tour.

“My boy rapping with no backing track. Some of y’all don’t know concerts. That boy rapping with no backing track. He’s dope. There’s no backing track, no hype man, and he’s rapping a seven-minute song. ‘Euphoria’ is like seven minutes, and then he’s still gotta do other songs. It’s like bars,” Akademiks said via HotNewHipHop.

He also added: “I ain’t gonna lie. This is hip-hop at its height. N****s is sitting there in a stadium watching this n***a spit bars. No dancers, it’s bars. I’m a Drake fan. Drake’s my favorite rapper. I think he’s the best rapper of all time– remember Kanye best artist, Drake best rapper. But, I gotta give Kendrick credit for this.”
