Kid Cudi is usually mild-mannered. But he didn’t hold back when he addressed hip-hop personality, DJ Vlad.
Kid Cudi Claps Back at DJ Vlad
In a recent social media post, Cudi blasted Vlad for being a bum.
“Hahaha, ain’t nobody tryna hear what this bum has to say,” Cudi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday (January 23).
Cudi’s comments were in response to a fan who posted a screenshot of a recent tweet. Vlad insinuated that rap artist Jim Jones was a big reason why he became successful as an artist.
“People are roasting Jim Jones for saying he’s the reason Kid Cudi blew up, but he’s absolutely right,” Vlad wrote on X on Friday. “Nobody knew who Cudi was until Jim Jones did the Day & Night remix. Keep in mind, this was coming off the heels of Ballin – his biggest song ever. I remember hanging out in the studio with Cudi and Plain Pat when Cudi told us that Jim tried to press him to sign over the song to him, which ultimately didn’t happen.”

Jones Credits Himself With Rapper’s Success
Vlad’s comments were based on a recent interview where he credited himself for Kid Cudi getting signed to a major deal.
During a recent appearance on the NoRapCap Podcast, Jones claimed that his remix of Cudi’s hit record “Day’N’Nite” helped it become “the biggest record in New York City,” at the time.
“That’s how ya’ll know Kid Cudi,” Jones started. “You all would have never known Kid Cudi if I hadn’t remixed that record in New York City. I made it the biggest record in New York City. It wasn’t Kid Cudi. Ya’ll didn’t know who Kid Cudi was.”
He also added: “So I got the beat, I shot the video to the beat, I never even put the shit out. They put the s**t on YouTube, they ripped it off of YouTube, and it became the biggest record in New York City. And that’s how Kid Cudi became an artist. They ended up giving him a deal off of Jim Jones back. If I’m lying, I’m flying.”
At the time of writing, neither Jones nor DJ Vlad has responded to Cudi’s comments.
