Kodak Black was arrested earlier this month on federal and state weapons charges just before he was set to perform at Rolling Loud Miami. His bond was set at $500,000, but in court documents obtained by Complex it has been confirmed that he won’t be leaving jail until next week.
Kodak was initially allowed to be released on bond by his judge, but the government appealed due to his prior convictions. His reported sexual assault against a teenage girl in particular is cited as a reason to keep him behind bars. His lawyer Michael P. McManus promptly responded to the appeal, offering 24-hour supervision on bond in lieu of another week in jail. “My company is willing and able to escort and transport him back to the Southern District of Florida should the State of South Carolina subsequently release Mr. Kapri for home confinement within the Southern District of Florida pursuant to pre-trial release ordered by this court,” he wrote.
Despite this, it was decided by Kodak’s judge that he should remain in jail until the situation is figured out. Kodak’s trial is currently scheduled to begin June 24, and he’s expected to remain behind bars until May 29 at the earliest. Feds claim to have found a gun belonging to Kodak at the scene of an attempted shooting which reportedly took place on March 7.
Kodak was also hit with a $500,000 lawsuit while his legal issues continue, with promoter Nicholas Fitts accusing him of agreeing to perform at numerous shows before bailing on each of them.
