Kodak Black is leveling up fan engagement with the launch of his own digital currency.
The Florida rapper has teamed up with music discovery platform Audius to launch his own artist coin, $YAK, timed with his annual Kodak Day celebration in his hometown of Pompano Beach.
The new blockchain-backed coin doubles as a digital fan club: $YAK holders will get exclusive access to unreleased music, stems, and behind-the-scenes content straight from Yak himself. He’s already dropped one unreleased $YAK-gated track on Audius to kick things off.
“Kodak Black is beloved by legions of fans as a true innovator in hip hop,” said Audius cofounder and CEO Roneil Rumburg. “He’s taking that same pioneering spirit to create an entirely new way to engage and reward his most passionate fans.”
Kodak’s longtime manager Ryan “Killshot” Prieur added, “The future of music is ownership, and $YAK puts that power in the fans’ hands.”
The rollout aligns perfectly with Kodak’s ongoing image shift toward community and legacy. The 28-year-old rapper—born Bill Kapri—has spent the past few years giving back to Pompano Beach, from donating AC units to local families to covering rent for hundreds of struggling residents. Earlier this year, he even received the key to the city for his philanthropic efforts.
That same hometown pride fuels Kodak Day, which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Golden Acres housing projects, where he grew up. The event focuses on giving back to local kids with food, groceries, games, and giveaways. Fans attending will also get their hands on free $YAK coins during the celebration.
The launch follows the release of Kodak’s latest mixtape, Just Getting Started, featuring Don Toliver, Lil Yachty, Gunna, and Chance the Rapper — as well as his May collab with former NFL player Antonio Brown on “I LUV ALL THE OPPS.”
When asked about the new venture, Kodak kept it short and true to form:
“You already know – YAK.”
