Hip-Hop legend KRS-One has officially given his blessing to Ab-Soul to carry a new moniker—KRS-Two—marking a symbolic passing of knowledge and responsibility within the culture.
In a recent video alongside Talib Kweli, Ab-Soul respectfully referred to KRS-One as “the teacher” before asking for public confirmation of his approval. “Please tell the people that I have your permission and your grace to be KRS-Two,” Soul said.
KRS-One responded by granting his blessing, while also emphasizing the weight behind the name. “You have the blessing. It’s a burden, a blessing,” he explained. “The burden is that KRS stands for ‘Knowledge Reigns Supreme.’ It is knowledge that leads our lives. It’s awareness that makes us who we are.”
He continued by affirming Ab-Soul’s authenticity and presence, adding that only those who are “real” can stand in that space. “You have the blessing because you could not be here with me if you wasn’t KRS-Two. My aura rejects those who are not real.”
The moment stands as a powerful nod of respect and lineage in Hip-Hop, with one of the culture’s most respected voices acknowledging Ab-Soul as a worthy carrier of the message.
