Music industry executive L.A. Reid has reached a settlement in the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him by Drew Dixon, just as the case was set to go to trial.
Dixon, a former executive at Arista Records, accused Reid of sexually assaulting her twice in 2001—first during a private flight and later in his car—while Reid was serving as the label’s president and CEO. The lawsuit has been closely watched given Dixon’s longstanding advocacy for survivors of sexual abuse within the music industry.
In a statement announcing the settlement, Dixon’s attorney, Kenya Davis, praised her client’s courage and impact. Davis highlighted Dixon’s role as a vocal supporter of survivors and credited her advocacy, including her involvement in advancing New York’s Adult Survivors Act, with helping shift power dynamics in the industry and expanding access to justice.
Reid’s attorney, Imran Ansari, emphasized that the agreement does not include any admission of wrongdoing. According to his statement, Reid “amicably resolved this matter” without conceding liability. The specific terms of the settlement have not been made public.
