The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after human remains were discovered in a Tesla registered to rising artist D4vd.
Authorities say workers at a Hollywood tow yard on North Mansfield Avenue reported a strong odor coming from an impounded 2023 Tesla just after noon Monday. Inside the front trunk, police found a body wrapped in a bag.
The vehicle had reportedly been at the tow lot for several days after being towed from the Hollywood Hills. Officials have not released the identity of the victim or details on how the remains ended up in the car. Detectives are treating the case as a death investigation.
The Tesla is registered under D4vd’s legal name, David Anthony Burke, from Hempstead, Texas. The 20-year-old singer released his debut album earlier this year and is currently on his Withered World Tour, which includes an upcoming Los Angeles stop on September 20.
While LAPD has not indicated any connection between D4vd and the victim, the timing suggests the remains are not those of the singer himself, as D4vd has recently posted to social media. His representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
