Hip-hop and R&B icon Lauryn Hill has officially been nominated for induction into the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, further cementing her legacy as one of music’s most influential voices.
Hill is one of 17 nominees this year, joining a diverse list that includes Mariah Carey, Sade, New Edition, Luther Vandross, P!NK, Shakira, Phil Collins, Oasis, The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, and Joy Division / New Order.
If inducted, honorees will be announced in April. Artists can be recognized under three special committee categories: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non Performer Award.
Hill’s nomination highlights her monumental impact on music and culture. From her groundbreaking solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill to her work as a member of The Fugees, she helped redefine the intersection of hip-hop, soul, and socially conscious lyricism.
Last year, OutKast was inducted into the Rock Hall, while Salt-N-Pepa were honored for Musical Influence — further signaling the institution’s continued recognition of hip-hop’s global impact.
Whether or not she secures induction this year, Lauryn Hill’s influence on generations of artists and fans alike is already undeniable.
