Lauryn Hill is set to lead a powerful tribute segment at the Grammy Awards in 2026, honoring the legacies of D’Angelo and Roberta Flack, according to an announcement from the Recording Academy on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Hill—who collaborated with D’Angelo and famously covered Flack’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song” with the Fugees—will lead the show’s In Memoriam segment. Following the announcement, the Recording Academy confirmed to The Breakfast Club’s Loren LoRosa that D’Angelo’s daughter Imani and his brother Luther are expected to attend. However, D’Angelo’s son, Michael Archer Jr. (Swayvo Twain), said he had not received an invitation.

“I want to start by expressing my gratitude to the Recording Academy for honoring my father’s legacy on one of the biggest nights in music,” Archer said in a statement. “Any recognition of his impact and contributions to the culture truly means a lot to my family and me… Unfortunately my siblings and I haven’t received an invitation to be part of this moment celebrating our parents’ lives and work.”

The 2026 ceremony will also feature tributes to other artists, with Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, Chad Smith, and Andrew Watt honoring Ozzy Osbourne, while Reba McEntire, Brandy Clark, and Lukas Nelson perform additional memorials. The show broadcasts live Sunday, Feb. 1, from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS and streams on Paramount+, with performers including Clipse, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber, Leon Thomas, and more.
