It has been nearly three weeks since the controversial verdict in the Diddy trial was revealed. The impacts of the jury’s decision are already proving to have long-term consequences.
Diddy Prosecutor Fired Following Controversial Verdict
Maureen Comey, the lead prosecutor on the case, was fired on Wednesday, July 16. This, according to a new report from CNN.
The reason for her termination remains unclear. However, one source did share with the outlet that Maureen’s father, James Comey, “constantly going after” the Trump administration certainly did not help her cause.
To bring things up to speed, Diddy was facing racketeering charges related to prostitution and trafficking. That occurred during his now-infamous celebrity parties. Also known as “freak-offs.”
The music mogul was found not guilty of the racketeering and trafficking charges. Related to his ex-girlfriend and label artist Cassie, as well as the Jane Doe who testified (believed to be his ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy).
However, he was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution related to both of the aforementioned women. Diddy will now look to his October 3 sentencing date, where he will find out his fate.
Unfortunately for Combs, despite evading the racketeering and trafficking charges, Judge Arun Subramanian did not grant bail to the music mogul. And as a result, he will have to remain at the Brooklyn Detention Center until October 3 when he is sentenced.
But Combs and his team are doing everything in their power to accelerate the legal process in his trial.
According to a recent social media post from Nancy Dillon of Rolling Stone, Combs’ lawyers are requesting that his sentencing date be moved up to September 22.
Judge Subramanian has yet to rule on Diddy’s request for an earlier sentencing date.
The music mogul could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for the charges of prostitution.
