The rap feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake was one that took the music industry by storm. And as a result, many people were forced to pick a side, which caused a bevy of broken relationships in the aftermath. After being close friends for a number of years, several reports suggested that Drake was at odds with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.
LeBron Breaks Silence on Current Relationship With Drake
Although many rumors suggested that Drizzy and LeBron’s relationship hit a snag. It was all speculation. During a recent interview with Speedy Morman of Complex, King James finally broke his silence about where things stand between him and Drizzy.
While he didn’t really confirm whether or not there is a rift between him and the Grammy-winner, the four-time NBA MVP did say that he and Drake are in “different places” at this point in their lives.
“Always wish him the best. Obviously, different places right now. He’s doing his thing. I’m doing mine. But, it’s always love for sure,” James said to Morman.

What really got the rumor mill churning about Drake and LeBron’s rumored rift was when Drake dropped a freestyle titled Fighting Irish earlier this year. Of course, the Fightin’ Irish is the name of James’ high school basketball team, St Vincent/St Mary.
On the track, Drizzy talks about being betrayed by a former “brother.”
“The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets. Seemed like they loved every minute,” he raps on the song.
Fans perceived this lyric to be aimed at the Lakers star, who was in attendance for Lamar’s Pop Out concert at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in 2024. The concert where the Compton native infamously played his diss track, Not Like Us six straight times.
Drake has not offered a response to LeBron’s latest comments.
